This Air/Field Scientist will travel extensively and collaborate
with others in a laboratory setting, performing quality assurance
technical assessments of State, Local, and Tribal air monitoring

professionals, several of whom have more than 30 years' experience
supporting the EPAThis position is contingent upon your ability to
obtain/maintain/transfer your Public Trust certificationSerco
supports the US EPA as a prime for their ESAT contract which
supports the OAQPS ambient air program through the EPA Region 6
Houston LaboratoryOur team implements a performance evaluation
program for ambient air instrumentation used to monitor air quality
for particulate, including PM2.5 and TSP-Pb, and criteria gas
pollutants, including ozone, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and
nitrogen oxidesThe Serco team works closely with the customer
providing quality supportThe position provides a great way to jump
start your career in environmental scienceAs an Air/Field
Scientist, you will:--- Transport a 20-fttrailer through the
five-state region (Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and
Louisiana) to remote ambient air monitoring stations--- Perform
site visits to set up instrumentation for the collection of samples
and analytical data--- Complete reports documenting audits
performed and program status--- Maintain recordkeeping, including
electronic and hardcopy logs--- Perform internal quality assurance,
including sampler collocations and line loss tests--- Maintain and
repair instrumentation, order parts, and coordinate with vendors---
Coordinate site visits with State, Local, and Tribal site
operators--- Collaborate with ESAT work team members, EPA sponsor,
and a national network of colleagues to facilitate continuous
improvement of the quality program Qualifications To be successful
in this role, you will have:--- A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry,
Physics, or Biology (Chemistry preferred)--- Ability to travel and
drive long distances--- Ability to work independently in remote
locations--- Ability to pull 20-fttrailer (including backing of
trailer)--- Ability to routinely lift bulky items of up to 50-lb---
Ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms--- Ability
to perform precise measurements and operate analytical
instrumentation--- Good mathematics skills--- Good communication
skills (oral and written)--- Good analytical and troubleshooting
skills--- Great interpersonal skills--- A resourceful, can-do
attitude and ability to 'think on your feet'--- This position is
contingent upon your ability to Public Trust certification
