Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital. As a Phlebotomist II, you will be responsible for performing phlebotomy and other specialized specimen collection procedures for patients in both in-patient and out-patient settings. You will also be responsible for processing, organizing, labeling, and transporting specimens, as well as inputting and extracting data with the Laboratory Information System.Key Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and other specialized specimen collection procedures for patients in both in-patient and out-patient settings.
• Process, organize, label, and transport specimens for laboratory testing.
• Input and extract data with the Laboratory Information System.
• Provide patient care while performing duties, independently handling patient care and technical issues as they arise.
• Serve as a role model and preceptor for staff, guiding and mentoring section employees and students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge, and abilities.Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Course in phlebotomy/venipuncture preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience required, including data entry and specimen handling.
  • Neonatal/pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred.Preferred Qualifications
    • CPT - Phlebotomy Technician Certification.
