Job Description:
Description The EHS Specialist will be r esponsible for
implementing environmental, health & safety programs for assigned
locations. This may include delivering training on best safety
practices, recognizing occupational hazards and meeting site
requirements. Responsibilities Role and Responsibilities Strong
understanding of Dow’s Global Environmental, Health and Safety
(EHS) standards and requirements. Candidate will have clear
understanding of the following: Occupational Safety & Health
Administration (OSHA) National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
International Fire Code (IFC) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Other state, local, or provincial regulatory agencies as required
by site activities and needs. Address questions and/or issues
related to EHS regulatory requirements with management to bring to
resolution in support of Newmark Management or the client’s needs.
Provide support to organization and client to facilitate
integration and implementation of environmental health and safety
practices into existing and planned operations. Assist organization
and client in the implementation of health hazard assessments and
injury/illness prevention strategies, the development of
environmental health and safety plans, and SOPs. Perform scheduled
audits of client’s space to identify environmental, health or
safety hazards that may impair the health of the client’s or MS
employees and/or vendors and participates in developing corrective
actions. Perform Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), Noise, Lighting, Electro
Magnetic Frequency (EMF) assessments in support of client. Provide
client with Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as part of the Hazard
Communication Program to ensure pre-approval and purchasing
procedures are followed. Participate and provide technical guidance
during the investigation of injury, illness, incident and near
misses to identify root cause(s) and corrective action(s). Conduct
job hazard analyses and/or exposure assessments to identify
occupational health hazards, including but not limited to hazardous
chemicals, physical and biological agents. Provide recommendations
for engineering and administrative controls, work practices,
personal protective equipment, training, medical surveillance and
written reports to organization and clients with recommendations to
reduce or eliminate identified health hazards. Implement Safety
Training Program, which may include developing, coordinating, and
conducting safety training for all safety programs. Provide
guidance and update bulletin boards with required EHS compliance
notices and postings at all assigned locations. Facilitate and
provide technical guidance to the client safety committee program.
Maintain records in accordance with acceptable standards and
assuring appropriate confidentiality. Participate on spill response
team. Participate in annual evacuation drills on a large corporate
campus. Manage the development and delivery of standard Emergency
Response Program (ERP) materials for new facilities, as well as
update materials for existing facilities (evacuation plans,
emergency kits and website). Responsible for monitoring and
responding to employee questions and suggestions regarding ERP
issues. Investigates, researches, and makes recommendations
regarding best practices with respect to emergency preparedness.
Coordinate resources in support of client directed activities
including coordination with corporate security and local fire
department tabletop exercises, drills, etc. Any and all duties as
assigned. Other Job Functions Ability to interface with employees,
clients and management in an effective and professional manner.
Collaborate with partners to develop campus wide response plan
engaging various resources. Coordinate maintenance and updates of
building evacuation maps to ensure signage is compliant with
current design guidelines. Train individuals on use of designated
evacuation chairs. Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor’s degree
or relevant work experience. Minimum of five years’ experience in
environmental, health and safety administration. Knowledge of OSHA
regulations, NFPA, IFC and EPA. Preferred safety training includes:
24-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 10-hour General Industry, OSHA
10-hour Construction Industry, and Asbestos Hazard Emergency
Response Act (AHERA)-accredited Building Inspector Ability to work
with all levels of management. Strong written and oral
communications skills. Ability to meet any necessary physical
standards. Ability to work in high stress environment, perform
multiple tasks, make decisions and handle emergencies. First aid or
CPR certification preferred. Note: The statements herein are
