Job Description:

Senior Process Chemist/Engineer Chemical company in Baytown, TX is looking for a Senior Process Chemist/Engineer with a focus on nitration. The ideal candidate will have MS/PhD with nitration chemistry experience in explosives and energetics or BS/MS and 5 years nitration experience on plant operational level with in-depth knowledge of this area and the technical hazards associated with it.
?Desired Experience / Qualifications:

Nitration reaction - effective control of the reactor conditions in terms of temperature, acid concentrations and stirring speed.
Handling of corrosive acids as well as potentially hazardous, toxic, and explosive organics.
Acid recovery and increasing yield.
Downstream product purification of the nitration process - product washing and separation.
Experience working with energetic compounds, including pyrotechnics, explosives, or propellants.
Experience with synthesis, formulation, and testing of energetic compounds.
