Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Posting Number: 0001001 PS Position: Position Status: Full-Time Salary: Starting salary is based on the Lee College Administrative/Administrative Support Salary Scale, E81. Initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience. Department: Nursing Job Summary/Basic Function: Lee College seeks a dynamic and innovative individual to lead the next phase of its Nursing and Allied Health Professions Division. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Instruction, the Dean is responsible for the effective administration of the Nursing and Allied Health Professions Division, representing the Division at the national, state, and local levels, providing leadership to the health professions. The Dean of Nursing and Allied Health supports the College's student success agenda through the development of exemplary data-driven processes and practices in order to provide exceptional undergraduate educational experiences, recruit, develop and retain outstanding faculty, and promote faculty-driven scholarly and creative endeavors that advance the size, scope, and impact of the health professions division in our local community and the State of Texas. As a leader and student advocate, the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health unifies the programs around the common goal of student success. The Dean is a change agent who can execute long-range plans including the development of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, the consistent improvement of NCLEX pass rates, the development of allied health programs to meet regional needs, and the implementation of career planning to appropriately guide the large population of pre-nursing students. As a member of a high functioning team, the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health supports dynamic relationships between Lee College, its faculty and staff, and with external, industrial, and educational partners. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supervise the Director of Vocational Nursing and Associate Degree Nursing, Data Technicians and Lab Assistants, Admissions and Progression Assistant, Chair of Allied Health Professions, and Secretaries. Maintain Texas State Board of Nursing and Commission on Collegiate Nursing standards. Develop and provide meaningful staff development opportunities for the nursing program to enhance the quality of instruction, recruitment, and retention. Support College's student success initiatives. Collaborate with Lee College Deans and the Vice President of Instruction to ensure adequate faculty to meet the program's mission, goals, and expected student and faculty outcomes. Work closely with the office of Planning, Institutional Effectiveness, and Research to ensure continuous program assessment and revision that addresses on-going improvements to meet its mission, goals, expected outcomes, and selected professional standards and guidelines. Work closely with Student Affairs and Marketing offices to ensure recruitment efforts are fruitful, bringing qualified and appropriate numbers of students to the Program. Coordinate both planning and instructional activities among departments and programs on campus in order to create and sustain the RN to BSN program. Develop and maintain productive relationships with relevant external organizations and agencies. Carry out administrative functions, including but not limited to, curriculum development, outcomes assessment, budget management, course scheduling, and participating in the hiring and evaluation of faculty and staff. Teach in the RN to BSN program as assigned. Maintain all program activities necessary to maintain ACEN accreditation. Demonstrate skill and knowledge regarding innovative teaching methods including face-to-face, online, and hybrid instructional modalities. Generate continuing scholarship through presentations, publications, grant writing, etc. Serve as a member of assigned college committees and advisory councils as appropriate. Additional duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Perform other duties as assigned. Excellent college benefits accrue with this full-time position. Minimum Qualifications: An earned doctorate in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university Five (5) years of experience in academic nursing and higher education Eligibility for a registered nurse license with the Texas Board of Nursing Leadership skills related to ACEN accreditation processes Experience with budgeting, departmental evaluation, and management of faculty and personnel Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, instructional methodologies, and clinical nursing practice Experience working effectively in teams across multiple areas of an organization Ability to work effectively with faculty and staff Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
