Job Description EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Minimum Qualifications: -
Associates of Applied Science OR Graduate of an accredited
Radiology program Enrolled in or have completed second Imaging
Modality program Preferred Qualifications: - Six months of
Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality - Three or more months
of experience in Secondary Imaging Modality LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
OR CERTIFICATIONS Required: - Certification from one of the
following credentialing organizations: - American Registry of
Radiologic Technology (ARRT), - - American Registry for Diagnostic
Sonography (ARDMS), - - American Registered Vascular Technologist
(RVT-VT), - - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
(NMTCB), or - - American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Technologists (ARMRIT) - Registration as a Medical Radiologic
Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if
applicable. - Registry in a second modality must be completed
within 6 months of hire or transfer date. - American Heart
Association BLS. JOB SUMMARY The Multi-modality Technologist I
provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical
imaging modalities in any combination. Performs imaging procedures
on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting
as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider.
The Multi-modality Technologist I will meet all of the
qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they
are certified and will work a minimum of 40% of the time in the
second modality. The position may require flex shifts and support
at different UTMB Campuses. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Imaging
Quality/Safety - 30% - Follows imaging, safety standards, and
conducts all imaging procedures based on approved protocols.
Follows ALARA and MRI safety guidelines for self and staff.
Properly utilizes radiation protective gear/ MRI safety, as
applicable, for patients and immobilization during diagnostic
procedures. - Ensures all imaging equipment has had tube warm up,
fast cals, and QA/QC performed and documented as applicable and
required, and is in mechanical, electrical, and radiation safe
working order prior to each patient use. Relays any equipment
malfunctions to the supervisor, manager, physics team, and CES
engineers team following the approved workflow chart. Operations -
25% - Assures proper review of patient medical information,
independently performs high-quality diagnostic studies according to
specified approved protocols. - Maintains proper sterile techniques
for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures
compliance with infection control procedures. Complies with job,
departmental, and hospital safety standards, practices, and
policies. - Handles contrast media and contrast delivery equipment
within manufacturer/division standards, properly administering
contrast agents, carefully observing the six rights of drug
administration 1.) Right Patient, 2.) Right Route, 3.) Right Dose,
4.) Right Time, 5.) Right Medication 6) Right Documentation. -
Assists with equipment maintenance logs (e.g., Zip Rounds, crash
cart, refrigerator, temperature logs, QC logs, Dose logs, etc.)

of the patient care team by communicating and reporting pertinent
patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner -

activities. Stakeholders/Growth - 10% - Interacts with Internal and
External stakeholders to build relationships and provide support to
their patients. Education - 10% - Monitors and trains students
assigned in all areas of the current competencies. - Completes all
Annual Learning Required and required CE’s for certifications. -
Maintains a high technical competency level in multiple imaging
modalities (CT, Ultrasound, Gen Rad, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, NM,
and MR) and remains current on new imaging techniques/procedures as
it relates to his/her specialties. Finance - 10% - Provides
accurate and timely completion of performed procedures. Ensures
that all applicable charges are entered when completing procedures
in EPIC Radiant. - Uses operational resources efficiently, and
medical supplies are not wasted. Brings to management’s attention
on opportunities to lower costs or reduce waste. - Self-motivated
to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks
Marginal or Periodic Functions: - Adheres to internal controls and
reporting structure. - Performs related duties as required SALARY
RANGE Salary commensurate with experience. WORK SCHEDULE Full-time
