Job Description Job Description POSITION PURPOSE Under
supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Nursing Director
plans, implements, directs and evaluates the care for the Cath Lab.
Responsible for establishing the vision, direction, and development
of the Cardiovascular service line. This encompasses strategies,
programs, processes and procedures, including measures of success,
which are aligned with the organization’s strategic direction and
result in continual growth and development of the programs.
Coordinates the delivery of patient services; creates and maintains
an environment conducive to learning. Provides for the development
and evaluation of staff. Serves as a patient advocate within the
health care system. Accountable on a twenty-four (24) hour basis
for the management of all facets of nursing activities for assigned
unit. Assures that nursing care meets legal, ethical,
institutional, and professional standards. Participates in the
Hospital’s Quality Improvement and Service Excellence programs.
Interprets and facilitates the application and implementation of
the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of the
department and organization. LATITUDE, CONTACTS/INTERACTIONS All
positions of Huntsville Memorial Hospital are part of an
interdisciplinary team, and as such, participate in the care and
service delivery process through effective interaction with other
team members. Primarily interacts with hospital staff, medical
staff, patients, and visitors. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Every effort

to the position. Ensures integration of the department(s) into the
primary functions of the organization. Creates a collaborative,
productive work environment through positive relationships with
senior leadership, other directors, physicians, employees,
patients/families and the community. Monitors the provision of
patient care for all assigned service lines. Collaborates with the
Medical Director of assigned area. Rounds on patients. Investigates
incidents and patient complaints, performing service recovery when
possible. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Develops and implements appropriate policies and procedures. Plans
and provides a sufficient number of qualified and competent staff
for the department(s). Establishes work schedules and assignments
to ensure coverage as demonstrated by maintaining appropriate staff
ratios within approved budgetary guidelines while ensuring safe,
quality patient care. Ensures completion of all employee records
including but not limited to: payroll, performance evaluations,
competencies, personnel action requests etc. Ensures initial
orientation and continuing education opportunities are presented
appropriately for all department staff. Coordinates and
participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of
quality improvement processes for the department(s). Maintains
quality control programs, as appropriate. Participates in the
budget planning process by making recommendations for resources,
including personnel, equipment and space as appropriate. Provides
24 hour accountability of leadership by appropriate delegation,
using sound decision making and critical thinking skills. Functions
competently in the staff role as necessary. Demonstrates
adaptability, problem solving and professional behavior at all
times. Participates in continuous Quality Improvement programs.
Abides by the HMH Legal Compliance Code of Conduct. Maintains
patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of PHI. Maintains
a safe work environment and reports safety concerns appropriately.
Performs all other related duties as assigned. Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduate of a school of professional
nursing, BSN preferred. Experience: Two years of relevant RN
experience required, prior Nurse Manager experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in
the State of Texas, or immediately eligible. Basic Life Support
certification required within 30 days of employment, before patient
care is administered independently. Advanced Cardiac Life Support
certification within 90 days of employment. RCIS preferred.
Required skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Clinically competent PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent: standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling
reaching. Occasional: sitting, bending, squatting, climbing
kneeling, twisting. Visual and hearing acuity required; Color
vision required for perceiving changes in patients’ skin color and
colors of medicines and solutions. Work is mostly inside, with good
ventilation and comfortable temperature. Possible exposure to:
toxic/caustic chemicals or detergents, moving mechanical parts,
potential electric shock, radiant energy, communicable diseases,
