Mechanical and Piping QA Inspector Position Type: Contract Position Location: Baytown, TX Position Salary: $60/HR - $70/HR (Depending on Experience) Responsibilities: The Mechanical and Piping QA Inspector reports to Project Quality Manager and will be responsible for the oversight of assuring quality on Construction Contractors--- and their Sub-Contractors--- work conforms to Project requirements including, but not limited to: contract requirements, project specifications, applicable industry codes and standards as well as Company HSES best practices. The Mechanical and Piping QA Inspector independently performs inspection and surveillance on all Mechanical and Piping activities at the site during the project construction, installation, pre-commissioning, mechanical completion, and commissioning phases. Provides technical assistance to contractor and owner project management in selecting optimum construction procedures and/or techniques to meet project specifications. Adheres to site HSES policies and procedures. Oversees training, craft testing and/or training personnel regarding required construction procedures and proper use of tools, instruments, etc. Coordinates examination, inspection, and test plans with contractors. Assures implementation of job site QA/QC Program. Attend meetings with contractors Documents nonconformities and follows-up until resolution Oversees the performance of personnel to perform specific work activities in ensuring work meets project requirements. Performs examinations, inspections, or tests as required by the project, Oversees the similar activities by the suppliers at offsite locations, contractor & subcontractors at site. Performs Audits and surveillances Review procedures (welding, NDE, Fabrication and installation) , Inspection and Test Plans, Inspection and Test Records, Reports (Hardness, NDE, PWHT, Hydrotest etc.) Requirements: High School Diploma with supplemental course work in drafting, industrial training, QA, Mechanical/Production Engineering Must have extensive knowledge of static/rotating equipment and piping manufacturing, fabrication, installation, welding, testing, coating, and preservation etc. Inspection and QA experience of ten years in oil/ gas/ petrochemicals/chemicals projects, and fifteen years of related work skill experience. Advanced knowledge of Codes, such as ASME Sec VIII Div 1, API 650, ASME Sec IX, AWS D1.1. ASME B31.3 codes Necessary certifications, such as AWS CWI, NACE, API 650, API 560/510, ASNT Level II (RT, UT, MT, LPT) etc. Thoroughly understands Project Specifications Must have good knowledge and experience in fabrication and installation of Static/Fixed Equipment, Piping, and Tanks, etc. Must have good aptitude and manual dexterity Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors Experience related to capital projects execution for refinery or petrochemical industries is strongly preferred. Experience in safety leadership and a demonstrated understanding of behavioral-based safety practices is desired. Proficiency in MS Office.
