Legacy is committed to driving healthy change in our communities.Job DescriptionThe Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing and overseeing various laboratory tests/procedures as assigned. Uses critical thinking skills and deals with issue resolution concerning the day-to-day technical operation of the laboratory.Essential Functions* Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures and associated corrective actions according to policy/procedure;* Performs moderate and waived complexity tests that are authorized by the laboratory director;* Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results;* Maintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples;* Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed;* Follows the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance;* Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notifies their manager;* Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications;* Ensures knowledge and adherence to Legacy Community Health policies and procedures;* Serves as the on-site subject matter expert (SME) for CLIA Waived and Moderate complexity testing;* Participates in onsite inspections held by regulatory agencies;* Floats between various sites to accomplish assignments;* Gains/maintains functional knowledge of system computers as required by job assignment;* Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to others;* Other duties as assigned.Education & Training Requirements* Education: Associate Degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Science and documentation of clinical laboratory training, or experience in waived and moderate-complexity testing.* Licenses/Certifications: MLT(ASCP) preferred.Work Experience* One year work experience in waived and/or moderate-complexity testing.Benefits* 9 Holiday + 1 Floating Holiday* PTO* 403b Retirement Plan* Medical / Vision / Dental (if eligible)
